Eine Microsoft-App für Windows 10 erleichtert den Datenaustausch zwischen dem PC und einem Android-Smartphone. Die "Your Phone"-App setzt aber voraus, dass der Nutzer die jüngste Windows-Version installiert hat.


Nutzer von Windows-10-Computern können jetzt leichter Daten mit ihrem Android-Smartphone austauschen. Dazu hat Microsoft seine App "Your Phone" für Windows 10 veröffentlicht. Die App ermöglicht zunächst den Austausch von Fotos, später sollen noch weitere Funktionen wie SMS-Synchronisierung, Benachrichtigungen oder Bildschirm-Übertragung hinzukommen, berichtet "The Verge".

Die "Your Phone"-App steht im Microsoft Store zum Download bereit, nach Installation lässt sich mit ihr das Smartphone mit dem PC verbinden, anschließend kann eine App auf das Smartphone geladen werden.



Damit der Datenaustausch funktioniert, brauchen Nutzer einen Windows-10-Computer mit dem aktuellen April-Update, außerdem ein Android-Smartphone mit mindestens Android 7. Die App ist kostenlos, eine iOS-Version gibt es bislang nicht.


Windows 10 wird bei einer Standardinstallation mit etlichen mehr oder weniger nützlichen Programmen aufgespielt. Wer seinen Festplattenspeicher lieber frei halten will, kann dafür entweder alle unerwünschten Programme von Hand deinstallieren – oder die App 10AppsManager nutzen, wie die Fachzeitschrift "Chip" berichtet. Die Freeware zeigt eine Übersicht aller Apps an und ermöglicht die Deinstallation mit wenigen Klicks.


Die Anwendung von 10AppsManager lohnt auch nach größeren Windows-Updates, bei denen auch mal ungefragt neue Programme installiert werden können.


Nach Updates sollten Nutzer auch die Speicherbereinigungsoptionen von Windows aufrufen, zu finden unter Start/Einstellungen/System/Speicher. Hier auf "Jetzt Speicherplatz freigeben" klicken und dann noch auswählen, was in den digitalen Müll darf. Mehr zu diesem nützlichen Werkzeug erfahren Sie hier.



In den USA verdichten sich die Hinweise, dass Microsoft für die Nutzung von Windows 10 künftig eine monatliche Gebühr verlangen könnte. Die Abo-Version des Betriebssystems soll sich vor allem für Unternehmen lohnen.

Der Windows-Explorer soll einen Dark Mode erhalten, berichtet "Computerbild.de". Aktivieren Nutzer den dunklen Modus, wird in Zukunft auch der Hintergrund im Fenster des Windows-Explorer dunkel sein. Bisher funktionierte das nur mit Windows-Apps. Der Grund: Der Windows-Explorer basierte auf älteren Systemkomponenten.


Der Windows Defender soll um die Schutzfunktion "Windows Defender Exploit Guard" erweitert werden. Die erkennt beispielsweise, wenn Apps sich verdächtig verhalten. Die Funktion gab es bisher nur für Firmenkunden.


Notebook-Nutzer sollen über eine Schnittstelle namens "Thunderbolt 3" externe Grafikkarten künftig während des laufenden Betriebs trennen können. Die Kopplung des Smartphones an den Rechner soll sich dank der App "Your Phone" besser gestalten. Beispielsweise können Android-Nutzer mithilfe der App Fotos direkt an den PC übertragen.


Neuerungen für Edge

Weitere Neuerungen sind beispielsweise neue Emoticons für Nachrichten. Die Windows-Uhr soll unter anderem dank Software-Zeitstempel genauer laufen. Das Programm "Snipping Tool" mit dem sich Screenshots vom Bildschirm machen lassen, wird entfernt. Stattdessen hat Microsoft das Werkzeug "Bildschirmskizze" ins allgemeine Betriebssystem ausgelagert. Snipping Tool soll aber als App im Windows Store verfügbar sein.


Viele Neuerungen erwarten Nutzer auch im Microsoft-Browser Edge. So soll das automatische Abspielen von Videos für jede Seite individuell eingestellt werden. Auch die PDF-Funktion des Browsers wurde verbessert. Im Lesemodus gibt es eine Option "Zeilenfokussierung", wo Nutzer einstellen können, ob drei oder fünf Zeilen angezeigt werden sollen. Zudem wurde das Menü des Browser überarbeitet und wirkt nun aufgeräumter.


Wenn das WLAN-Signal nicht im ganzen Haus ankommt, bieten laut Stiftung Warentest klassische Repeater oft die günstigste Lösung. Mesh-Systeme hingegen hätten einen großen Nachteil.



Wenn bei schwächelndem WLAN daheim keine andere Maßnahme mehr hilft, muss eine Verstärkung des Signals her. Von den drei verfügbaren technischen Lösungen ist der klassische WLAN-Repeater oft die beste und günstigste Lösung – ein aktueller Router des gleichen Herstellers vorausgesetzt.


Zu diesem Ergebnis kommt die Stiftung Warentest, die ein Dutzend Verstärker-Systeme untersucht hat ("test"-Ausgabe 9/18). Mesh-WLAN-Systeme, die das Funknetz des Routers ersetzen, und dessen Zugangspunkte untereinander kommunizieren, zeigten gegenüber den Repeatern keinen Vorteil bei der Datenübertragung und verbrauchen relativ viel Strom.


Das beste Gesamtpaket bietet dem Test zufolge der AVM Fritz-WLAN-Repeater 1750E (Gesamtnote 2,2) für 67 Euro, gefolgt von TP-Links WLAN-Repeater AC2600 WiFi RE650 (Gesamtnote 2,5) für 123 Euro.


Bestes Mesh-System wurde Google WiFi (Gesamtnote 2,6) im Zweierset für 249 Euro. Und bei den Powerline-Adaptern mit WLAN wurde das AVM-Set Fritz-Powerline 1260E WLAN (Gesamtnote 3,0) für 135 Euro am besten getestet.


Die insgesamt besten Leistungen in der Datenübertragung bieten den Testern zufolge Powerline-Adapter. Diese Lösung, bei der die Daten per Stromleitung übertragen werden, sei über große Distanzen oft die beste Lösung – vorausgesetzt die genutzten Steckdosen befinden sich im gleichen Stromkreis.



Die Preisangaben beziehen sich auf die Geräteausstattung für die Abdeckung einer großen Wohnung. Für ein Haus rechnen die Tester mit zwei Repeatern, drei Mesh-Zugangspunkten und einem Powerline-Set plus Extra-Adapter.


Dank eines Open-Source-Programms können sich Nutzer zurück in die 90er versetzen lassen und noch einmal die Nutzeroberfläche einer frühen Windows-Version erleben. Die Windows-95-Simulation kommt als 130 MB große Download-Datei für Windows, macOS oder Linux.

DIE KOMPATIBILITÄT MIT ANDEREN SYSTEMEN

Bei der Software-Vielfalt hat Windows klar die Nase vorn. So sind nicht nur im hauseigenen Microsoft Store mehr Apps als im Mac App Store zu finden. Auch in der Anzahl an frei erhältlichen Programme schlägt Windows den Konkurrenten.


Viele namhafte Windows-Programme wurden mittlerweile auf das Apple-Betriebssystem portiert. So müssen Mac-User nicht mehr auf die Office-Produktpalette oder auf die Browser-Alternativen Chrome und Firefox verzichten. Auch die beliebten Foto- und Video-Bearbeitungsprogramme von Adobe sind für macOS erhältlich. Einige kleine Programme haben es bis heute trotzdem nicht auf iMac oder MacBook geschafft. Meist finden sich aber Alternativen im Internet.


Apple-Rechner sind offenbar nicht fürs Spielen gedacht. Egal ob Battlefield oder FIFA: Mac-Nutzer schauen in die Röhre. Die Notebooks und Desktop-PCs von Apple bringen zwar die benötigte Leistung mit. Jedoch werden nur eine vernichtend geringe Anzahl von Videospielen auch für macOS programmiert. Für echte Gamer mit Maus und Tastatur bleibt deshalb nur der Griff zum Windows-PC.


DIE HARDWARE ERWEITERN

Ein weiterer Nachteil von macOS hat mit dem Aufbau der Geräte zu tun. Zwar lässt sich bei den iMacs immerhin noch der Arbeitsspeicher erweitern, bei den MacBooks kann hingegen nichts ausgetauscht werden. Wird der eingebaute Speicher zu klein oder der Prozessor zu langsam, dann bleibt meist nur der Kauf eines neuen Gerätes. Da Windows sich auf annähernd allen Computern installieren lässt, können einzelne Komponenten, vorausgesetzt das Gehäuse gibt dies her, ausgetauscht werden.



Ein Vorteil des geschlossenen Systems spiegelt sich in der Performance von Apple-Rechnern wider. Da der Computer-Hersteller aus Cupertino genau weiß, welcher Prozessor, Arbeitsspeicher oder Grafikchip verbaut ist, kann das Betriebssystem entsprechend angepasst werden.


Durch dieses Zusammenspiel arbeiten Apple-Rechner sehr zuverlässig. Probleme mit einfrierenden Bildschirmen oder Abstürzen bleiben dem Nutzer erspart. Updates sorgen oft für deutliche Leistungsverbesserungen, weshalb Macs nach Jahren noch schnell unterwegs sind.


Windows läuft hingegen auf vielen verschiedenen Geräten unterschiedlicher Qualität und Bauart. Nur bei seinen eigenen Notebooks und Tablets hat Microsoft die Möglichkeit, das Zusammenspiel von Soft- und Hardware zu optimieren.


Lange Zeit brachte Microsoft jährlich neue Windows-Versionen heraus. Windows XP, Vista, 7 und 8 – jede einzelne Version musste auch extra bezahlt werden. Seit Windows 10 hat Microsoft die Distributionsstrategie angepasst und will es künftig nur noch updaten. Ein Windows 11 wird wahrscheinlich nie erscheinen.


Ähnliches verfolgt Apple mit macOS auch. Im Jahrestakt werden große Updates veröffentlicht. El Capitan, Sierra oder das demnächst erscheinende Mojave sind kostenlos downloadbar. Anders als Windows, ist macOS generell kostenlos. Für die Standard-Ausführung Windows 10 Home müssen immerhin 145,00 Euro in Microsofts offiziellem Internet-Shop berappt werden.



Für jeden Windows-Nutzer gehören Anti-Virenprogramme zur Standardausstattung. Bei Apple-Nutzern finden sich diese seltener. Tatsächlich werden für macOS viel weniger Viren und Schadprogramme programmiert. Trotzdem können sie von Malware und Trojanern getroffen werden. Beide Betriebssysteme sind daher gleich anfällig für Viren.


Unter Apple-Nutzern von iPhone und iPad bekannt, ist Siri auch auf den Macs installiert. Unter Windows 10 begrüßt hingegen Cortana. Zwar kann sie Kalendereinträge vorlesen und allgemeine Informationen liefern. Sonderlich komplex und intelligent ist sie jedoch nicht. Seit kurzem kooperiert Microsoft aber mit Amazon. In den USA lässt sich somit Alexa auch auf allen Windows-Computern nutzen. Cortana wird dadurch nicht nur deutlich intelligenter, sondern kann nun auch Smart Home Geräte steuern. Wann das Feature nach Deutschland kommen wird, ist noch unklar.

Keine Branche kommt an Digitalisierung vorbei

Bei IBM selbst werden nach Jahren des Schrumpfens im deutschsprachigen Raum (Deutschland, Österreich, Schweiz) derzeit 2200 neue Leute eingestellt. Das Unternehmen schweigt über seine Beschäftigtenzahlen in einzelnen Ländern. Verdi spricht in Deutschland von rund 12.000 Mitarbeitern.


Grundsätzlich kommt nach Auffassung des IBM-Managers kein Unternehmen und keine Branche an Digitalisierung vorbei. "Ich kenne keine aktuellen Geschäftsmodelle, die nicht von Software profitieren", so Lord. "Ein kleines Café in Denver hat beispielsweise QR-Codes auf ihre Tassen gedruckt. Dort können Kunden sehen, wer ihren Kaffee angebaut hat." Dafür werde Blockchain-Technologie eingesetzt, die Rechnerkapazität weltweit nutzt. "Das bringt einen Vorteil gegenüber den großen Ketten. Sie nutzen also die Technologie, um sich einen Vorteil zu verschaffen."


Alte Geschäftsmodelle müssten deshalb aber nicht unbedingt verschwinden, so Lord. "Aber es wird immer Raum für beide Seiten geben: Manche Leute werden sich eine Limousine im Autohaus kaufen, andere einen Carsharing-Service nutzen."In Kürze will Microsoft das Oktober-Update für Windows 10 freigeben. Es soll viele neue Funktionen bringen. Andere sollen wegfallen oder ersetzt werden – so wie das beliebte "Snipping Tool".


Das für Ende September bis Anfang Oktober geplante Update 1809 bedeutet das Aus für beliebte Funktionen. Microsoft verspricht aber in einem Blogeintrag Ersatz und Verbesserungen. Einige ungenutzte Tools, die kein anderer Hersteller nutzt, sollen wegfallen.Dafür sollen neue Funktionen, wie eine verbesserte Suche, eine bessere Verbindung zwischen Handy und PC und eine geräteübergreifende Zwischenablage dazukommen.



1. Laut der Tech-Webseite "Neowin" soll das "Disk Cleanup-Tool" im Herbst durch ein verbessertes "Storage Sense" ersetzt werden. Es soll neue Funktionen bieten, die der vereinfachen Speicherverwaltung dienen sollen. 2. "Snipping Tool": Das bisherige Werkzeug zum Erstellen von Screenshots wird in Windows-Version 1809 durch eine App namens "Snip & Sketch" (Ausschneiden und Skizzieren) ersetzt. Die neue Universal-App bietet laut Microsoft dieselben Funktionen wie Snipping Tool, bringt aber zusätzliche Features mit.


3. Die ein- und ausschaltbare Schriftenglättung "FontSmoothing" wird durch die standardmäßig eingeschaltete "ClearType" ersetzt, das dann für die programmübergreifende Schriftenglättung zuständig ist. Das bisherige Tool ist dann nicht mehr erforderlich.


4. Die "Hologramm-App" wurde durch den "Mixed Reality Viewer" ersetzt. Für "3D Word Art" lässt sich "Paint 3D" nutzen. Das Bild kann dann in "VR" oder "HoloLens" mit dem "Mixed Reality Viewer" angesehen werden.



5. "Phone Companion": Diese App wird bei dem Upgrade entfernt. Über die "Phone"-Seite in den "Einstellungen" kann man sein Smartphone mit dem PC synchronisieren, dort sind alle bisherigen Phone-Companion-Funktionen zu finden. Mit der neuen App "Your Phone" aus dem Windows Store lassen sich Fotos vom Handy auf den PC übertragen. Voraussetzung: Android 7.0. Auf dem PC und in der Smartphone-App müssen Sie mit demselben Microsoft-Konto eingeloggt sein. Dann können Sie die Fotos bequem auf dem Rechner speichern und bearbeiten. Für iOS steht diese Funktion bislang nicht zur Verfügung. Ob und wann sie dorthin kommt ist offen, berichtet "Heise online".

Häufig tritt der Fehler auf, wenn man sein System gerade neuaufgesetzt hat oder wenn man beispielsweise das Windows 10 Upgrade durchgeführt hat. Denn auch wenn der Update Assistent von Microsoft großspurig versprochen hat, dass euer System mit dem neuen Betriebssystem kompatibel ist, muss das noch lange nicht heißen, dass es automatisch die passenden Treiber für alle Komponenten findet – vorausgesetzt es gibt diese überhaupt!


Wenn Treiber, Geräte und Peripherie nicht mehr unter Windows 10 funktionieren, könnt ihr natürlich auch über ein Downgrade nachdenken. Wie das funktioniert, erklären wir euch in folgendem Video-Tutorial:Führt zunächst ein Update der MacBook-Firmware aus, da auch dieses den Wartungshinweis entfernen kann. Eine Wartung empfiehlt sich zumindest, wenn ihr feststellt, dass der Akku tatsächlich sehr viel schneller seine Ladung verliert als früher.


MacBook: Akku warten oder ersetzen

Womöglich kommt ihr nicht mehr eure Daten heran, wenn der Akku nicht mehr will und sich euer MacBook nicht mehr starten lässt. Darum geht wie folgt vor:

In diesem Fall solltet ihr euren Rechner einmal herunterfahren und komplett stromlos machen – Netzstecker abziehen und beim Laptop den Akku entfernen. Nun einige Sekunden den Ein/Ausschalter gedrückt halten. Anschließend den Rechner wieder verkabeln und hochfahren. Natürlich kann auch ein Update der verschiedenen Mainboard- und PCI-Komponenten helfen.

Wenn ihr im Geräte-Manager versucht, die Treiber zu finden bzw. zu aktualisieren wird Windows sehr wahrscheinlich mit einer Fehlermeldung antworten, dass entweder die aktuellsten Treiber bereits installiert seien oder es für das jeweilige Gerät keine Treiber finden konnte. Wenn ihr euer Betriebssystem gerade erst neu aufgesetzt bzw. das Windows 10-Upgrade durchgeführt habt, solltet ihr zuerst die Treiber des Mainboards und alle zusätzlichen PCI-Karten installieren.


mainboard-atxIm Normalfall liegt dem Mainboard und allen Hardware-Komponenten eine Treiber-CD bei, auf die ihr zurückgreifen könnt. Wenn diese jedoch schon etwas älter ist, rät es sich die aktuellen Treiber für euer Betriebssystem besser von der Herstellerseite herunterzuladen.

Bei einem Laptop könnt ihr die passenden Treiber einfach anhand der Modellnummer des Laptops auf der Herstellerseite ausfindig machen, bei einem Standrechner ist dies etwas komplizierter, wenn ihr die Mainboard-Bezeichnung nicht gerade auswendig kennt. Mit einem kleinen Tool lässt sich aber auch das ganz einfach herausfinden, lest dazu einfach folgenden Artikel:

Business laptops –– they’re durable, secure and mighty expensive. Or are they? Realizing that not every mobile professional has the means to afford a top-tier business laptop, Lenovo is introducing its L-series of ThinkPad devices. Available in Q2 at a starting price of $649, Lenovo is rolling out four value-targeted business notebooks: the L13 ($699), L14 ($649), L15 ($649) and L13 Yoga ($799).



I know what you’re thinking –– value equals compromise. That’s not necessarily the case with the L-Series. The L14 can be outfitted with an optional aluminum lid. The bases of the systems are constructed from ABS plastic while the L13 Yoga is sporting an aluminum-magnesium alloy lid with a plastic base. The L13 and L15 are completely made of ABS plastic. Due to these lightweight materials, the 0.7-inch L13 is the lightest of the bunch at 3.1 pounds, while the 0.8-inch L15 is the heaviest at 4.4 pounds.

Grundlegende Tipps bei Laptops mit schwarzem Bildschirm

Bevor ihr euch in die tiefen der Fehlerdiagnose begebt, solltet ihr zuallererst die folgenden grundlegenden Tipps beachten, so banal sie oft auch erscheinen mögen.



Überprüft, ob der Laptop überhaupt startet: Laufen die Lüfter, leuchten die LEDs und dreht die Festplatte an (im Fall einer HDD)?

Wenn der Laptop gar nicht erst startet, überprüft ob alles richtig angeschlossen ist (Ladekabel, Akku, etc.) und ob euer Netzteil überhaupt funktioniert (Leuchtet die LED?).

Hat das Display eventuell einen Wackelkontakt? Einfach den Bildschirm vorsichtig nach vorne und hinten bewegen. Falls jetzt ein Bild erscheint, ist ein Wackelkontakt wahrscheinlich und eine Reparatur notwendig.

Falls ihr das Ladekabel an einen USB-Port des Computers angeschlossen habt, probiert einen anderen Port aus.

Überprüft beim Ladevorgang auf jeden Fall auch mit der Hand die Temperatur des Ladegeräts. Wird beispielsweise das USB-Ladegerät unverhältnismäßig heiß, ist das ein deutliches Zeichen dafür, dass es defekt ist und nicht mehr verwendet werden sollte.


Bei neueren Geräten könnt ihr auch versuchen, das Handy drahtlos aufzuladen (Qi-Technologie).

Lädt euer Akku langsam, schließt geöffnete Apps und bringt das Smartphone gegebenenfalls in Position (bei Drahtlos-Ladetechnik).

Ist euer Samsung-Gerät noch nicht älter als sechs Monate, besteht sogar noch Garantieanspruch auf einen neuen Akku.

Achtet aber in jedem Fall darauf, dass ihr nur Original-Akkus kauft, um die defekte Handy-Batterie auszutauschen. Alternativ könnt ihr auch Produkte von Drittherstellern erwerben, die für ihre gute Qualität bekannt sind, beispielsweise Anker*.

Li-Ionen-Akkus besitzen eine Schutzschaltung, das heißt, euer Akku wird zwar als leer angezeigt, besitzt aber noch eine Restladung. In seltenen Fällen kann es aber dazu kommen, dass sich der Akku eures Smartphones lediglich sehr tief entladen hat. Das geschieht, wenn ihr euer Gerät über einen längeren Zeitraum nicht mehr in Benutzung hattet und sich der Akku bis zur nahezu vollständigen Erschöpfung der Kapazität selbst entlädt. In diesem Fall existiert keine Spannung mehr an den externen Kontakten, aufgrund derer euer Ladegerät den scheinbar defekten Akkumulator nicht mehr aufladen möchte.

Das Smartphone reagiert dann nicht direkt, wenn ihr es ans Ladegerät anschließen. Es kann einige Minuten dauern, bis das Gerät etwas anzeigt. Mit etwas Glück könnt ihr euer Handy nach einigen Minuten neu starten.


Ihr könnt in diesem Fall ebenfalls versuchen, euer Smartphone drahtlos zu laden.

Mit Ladegeräten ohne elektronische Akku-Erkennung könnte euer Akku ebenfalls soweit geladen werden, das die Schutzelektronik die Kontakte wieder freigibt.

Da der Akku keinen Strom mehr auf normalem Wege aufnehmen kann, kursieren die Empfehlungen, den Akku mit einem höheren „Stromstoߓ wiederzubeleben – beispielsweise mit einem Trafo, an dem ihr die Spannung einstellen könnt.


ABER VORSICHT: Ihr solltet das unbedingt dem Reparatur-Shop überlassen, wenn ihr auf einen Knall und eine Stichflamme wegen Überspannung und einen endgültig terminierten Akku verzichten könnt. Besitzt ihr keine Schutzbrille und feuerfeste Kleidung, solltet ihr mit eurem Lithium-Ionen - oder Lithium-Polymer-Akku den nächsten Experten aufsuchen.



Um Tiefenentladung zu vermeiden, solltet ihr euren Akku immer zwischen 20% und 80% geladen haben.Weitere Ursachen, wenn der Akku nicht mehr lädt

Könnt ihr ausschließen, dass der Akku oder das Ladekabel defekt sind, kann es auch folgende Probleme geben:

Anschlussbuchse defekt: Kontakte sind verbogen oder verdreckt. Lösung: Reinigt die Kontakte mit einem Pinsel oder einer trockenen Zahnbürste. Verwendet keine spitzen, metallischen Gegenstände wie eine Büroklammer – es besteht Kurzschluss-Gefahr. Alternativ können Kontakt- oder Druckluft-Spray helfen; auch ein Staubsauger leistet nicht nur bei der Tastatur-Reinigung gute Dienste. Hat das nicht geholfen, könnt ihr euch bei einer Handy-Reparatur eine neue Ladebuchse einbauen lassen. Je nach Modell und Reparatur-Service kann das um die 80 Euro kosten.

Positiv zu erwähnen ist auch die Tastatur des Medion Akoya E6422 (MD 99680). Man bekommt ein Chiclet-Keyboard mit Ziffernblock an der Seite. Das Touchpad ist demnach auch etwas seitlich verschoben, damit man beim Tippen nicht auf das Touchpad kommt. Insgesamt ist das Laptop inkl. Akku 2300 Gramm leicht. Aldi Nord verkauft ab heute, dem 28. August 2019, mit dem Medion Akoya S6446 ein neues leichtes Windows-Notebook, mit Schnellladefunktion für 549 Euro. GIGAs Hardware-Experte Robert verrät euch, für wen das Angebot einen zweiten Blick wert ist.

Ein weiteres Mal hat sich Medion mit Aldi zusammengetan und bietet seit heute in den Filialen des Discounters ein neues preiswertes Business-Notebook an. Der 15,6 Zoll große Laptop bietet einen i5-Prozessor aus Intels 8. Generation, 8 GB Arbeitsspeicher und eine 256 GB große SSD, auf der Windows 10 Home in der 64-bit-Version bereits vorinstalliert ist. Das Gewicht fällt mit 1,78 Kilogramm angenehm gering aus, so federleicht wie ein kleines Ultrabook ist das Medion Akoya S6446 aber nicht.


Beim Browsen und während simpler Office-Arbeiten langweilt sich der sparsame i5-Prozessor beinahe. Die Leistung der CPU reicht locker aus, um den Laptop auch für Fotobearbeitung und zum Schneiden kleinerer Videoprojekte zu nutzen – hier könnte sich lediglich die Kapazität des RAMs als Flaschenhals entpuppen. Benutzt man das Notebook aber ausschließlich für leichtere Aufgaben, gibt es keine Schwierigkeiten.


Ein viel größeres Problem stellt die Akkukapazität des Medion Akoya S6446 dar. Die fällt mit gerade einmal 42 Wh eher gering aus. Da Medion auf einen stromsparenden U-Prozessor von Intel setzt, ist der Verbrauch des Laptops zwar nicht sehr hoch – über den kompletten Arbeitstag kommt man mit einer einzigen Akkuladung aber wahrscheinlich trotzdem nicht.

Ist der Akku mal leer, kann er dank Schnellladefunktion in Windeseile wieder aufgeladen werden. Innerhalb von 60 Minuten klettert die Akkuanzeige von 0 auf beachtliche 80 Prozent.


Windows 10 Home ist auf dem Gerät bereits vorinstalliert. Das Starten des Betriebssystems und von anderen Programmen und Anwendungen geht dank der verbauten PCIe-SSD sehr zügig vonstatten.

Mit dem Acer Liquid Extend möchte das taiwanische Unternehmen in einigen Monaten ein Laptop-Dock auf den Markt bringen, mit dem man sein Windows 10 Mobile-Smartphone mit Continuum-Funktion unterwegs in ein Laptop verwandeln kann. Die lokale Nutzung auf dem Desktop klappt schon ganz gut, doch damit erhalten solche Smartphones deutlich größere Freiheiten und es ergeben sich mehr Möglichkeiten - mit Vor- und Nachteilen.



Das Acer Liquid Extend ist im Grunde nur die Hülle eines Laptops mit Display, Akku und Eingabegeräten. Angetrieben wird das Laptop-Dock dann von einem Smartphone wie dem Acer Liquid Jade Primo, welches die Continuum-Funktion unterstützt. Statt auf einem normalen Monitor wird der Desktop-Modus von Windows 10 Mobile so auf dem Laptop angezeigt und kann dort mit dem Touchpad und der Tastatur genutzt werden. Der große Vorteil bei dieser Lösung liegt darin, dass die persönlichen Daten immer auf dem Smartphone bzw. dem Cloud-Speicher hinterlegt sind und man so auch immer Verbindung zum Netz hat, da alles über das Smartphone läuft. Zudem ist im Notebook ein Akku verbaut, der für höhere Laufzeiten sorgt und vermutlich auch das Smartphone aufladen kann. Verbunden werden die beiden Geräte mit einem USB Typ C-Kabel. So wird die Datenübertragung und Kommunikation geregelt.


Ohne Smartphone unbrauchbar

Der große Nachteil bei so einem Laptop-Dock ist aber auch, dass man sonst nichts damit anfangen kann. Das Laptop funktioniert einfach nicht, wenn man das Smartphone nicht anschließt. Es ist zwingend ein Windows 10 Mobile-Smartphone mit Continuum-Funktion nötig, um dieses Zubehör sinnvoll nutzen zu können. Verkauft man sein Smartphone, dann muss man das Dock auch loswerden. Informationen zum Preis fehlen noch, der Marktstart wird auch erst im 3. Quartal erwartet. Acer hat es demnach nicht wirklich eilig mit der Einführung.

Surrounding the Galaxy Book Flex Alpha's display are thin bezels designed to draw your eyes toward that saturated screen and keep the Galaxy Book Flex's footprint to a minimum. We're looking forward to setting our eyes on the Book Flex Alpha's QLED panel and putting it through our quantitative testing.

Samsung is being coy about what lies under the hood of the Galaxy Book Alpha. The only hint we get is that it'll run on Intel 10th Gen processors. The Galaxy Book Flex is powered by Intel Core Ice Lake chips, so we're hopeful Samsung sticks with U-series processors and not the low-powered Y-series variant.


Interestingly, Samsung says the Galaxy Book Flex Alpha will have UHD graphics, not the Iris Plus graphics that pair with higher-end Ice Lake processors. That suggests a Core i3 CPU or a lower-end Core i5 chip. Other specs include up to 512GB of SSD storage and RAM of either 8GB or 12GB.The Galaxy Book Flex Alpha is a winner if it gets anywhere near Samsung's ambitious 17.5-hour battery life rating. We'll believe it when we see it --- until then, take this claim with a grain of salt.


I can't remember the last time I've been so excited to review a Samsung laptop. It's not that I expect the Galaxy Book Flex Alpha to outperform the best laptops, but the Alpha's QLED display could make it an incredible value. If that 13.3-inch QLED display is as good as we're hoping, and Samsung didn't compromise on performance to get the price so low, then the Galaxy Book Flex Alpha could ask serious questions of the HP Envy 13, our current favorite sub-$1,000 laptop.

Wenn eine App versucht, zu schummeln und trotzdem den Aufenthaltsort abzurufen, bekommt der Nutzer eine Warnmeldung. Bei vernetzter Haustechnik im Smarthome soll die Apple-Plattform HomeKit mit Hilfe der Installation in Internet-Routern künftig einzelne Geräte besser voneinander abschirmen, damit Anbieter Nutzer nicht ausspähen können. Dafür ausgestattete Router kommen zunächst unter anderem von Linksys.


Auf Mac-Computern wird die betagte Multimedia-App iTunes – vor Jahren für Millionen Nutzer noch der Einstieg in die digitale Musikwelt – in einzelne Apps für Musik, Podcasts und Videoinhalte aufgeteilt. Außerdem macht es Apple für Entwickler insgesamt deutlich einfacher, iPhone-Apps in Programme für den Mac umzuwandeln. Das könnte die Programm-Auswahl auf den Apple-Computern stark verbessern.



Wenn die Apple Watch attraktiver für Android-Nutzer wird, könnte das die Erfolgschancen anderer Smartwatch-Anbieter verschlechtern. Bisher brauchte man ein iPhone zum Beispiel, um Apps auf die Apple Watch zu laden. Künftig bekommt die Computer-Uhr einen eigenen App Store und auf ihr laufende Anwendungen brauchen keinen Gegenpart auf dem iPhone mehr. Die Apple-Uhr ist bereits die mit Abstand populärste Smartwatch, wurde aber zugleich durch die Verbreitung des iPhones zurückgehalten: Android-Smartphones haben einen Marktanteil von mehr als 80 Prozent.

Die Lebensdauer einer Notebook-Batterie lässt sich durch einen ordentlichen Umgang verlängern. Dazu muss man wissen: Jeder Ladezyklus setzt dem Akku zu und verringert seine Leistung. Deshalb ist es sinnvoll, den Akku herauszunehmen, wenn eine Steckdose in der Nähe ist.


Bei vollem Akku sollte das Gerät sicherheitshalber vom Netz genommen werden. Außerdem sollte man darauf achten, den Akku keinen hohen oder kalten Temperaturen auszusetzen. Eine volle Festplatte bremst den Rechner aus. Nutzer sollten ihren Speicher deshalb regelmäßig entrümpelt. Nicht benötigte Dateien können auf externen Festplatten ausgelagert werden. Auch nicht benötigte Programme können deinstalliert werden. Damit der Rechner anschließend nicht wieder vollgemüllt wird, empfiehlt sich die Windows-Funktion "Speicheroptimierung".


Selbst wenn man nicht zu den Musik-, Film- und Foto-Sammlern gehört, sammelt sich mit der Zeit viel Datenmüll auf einer Festplatte an. Vor allem auf HDD-Festplatten ist das ein Problem, das sich jedoch mit einem einfachen Schritt beheben lässt: dem Defragmentieren.


Am einfachsten startet man die Anwendung, indem man das Wort "Defragmentieren" in die Suchleiste eingibt und den Windows-Anweisungen folgt.


6. Altgeräte an Profis weitergeben

Selbst ein Rechner, der sich nicht mehr starten lässt, kann wahrscheinlich repariert werden. Meist sind nur einzelne Komponenten defekt, die ein Fachmann austauschen kann.


Wer die Reparaturkosten scheut und sich lieber gleich ein neues Gerät kaufen will, kann seinen alten Rechner immer noch spenden. Ein Profi kann brauchbare Einzelteile ausbauen und weiterverwenden.



In der Windows-Community warnen sich Nutzer derzeit gegenseitig vor betrügerischen Werbeanzeigen in mehreren Microsoft-Apps. Die Opfer werden mit falschen Virenwarnungen oder Gewinnversprechen auf manipulierte Websites gelockt – wo ihre Rechner mit Schadsoftware infiziert werden können.


Der Microsoft App Store wird derzeit offenbar verstärkt von schädlichen Werbeanzeigen heimgesucht. Wie das Computer-Fachmagazin "heise.de" berichtet, warnen Nutzer in der Microsoft-Community vor plötzlich aufploppenden Werbebannern, die den User auf mit Schadcode infizierte Websites locken.


Von dem Problem betroffen sind insbesondere Nutzer, die werbefinanzierte Windows-Apps aus dem Microsoft Store heruntergeladen haben oder nutzen. Die schädlichen Anzeigen werden nämlich durch externe Werbewinetzwerke in die Windows-Apps geschleust. Namentlich genannt werden von den Nutzern unter anderem die Apps MSN Wetter, News und Money, die Microsoft Solitair Collection und Microsoft Mahjong.


Dieses sogenannte "Malvertising" kennt man bereits vom Surfen auf Websites. Häufig tarnen sich die Pop-up-Anzeigen als falsche Virenwarnungen. Manchmal werden auch dubiose Gewinnspiele als Köder benutzt.



Wer in der Hoffnung auf einen Hauptgewinn oder auf der Suche nach einer Lösung für das vermeintliche Computerproblem auf das Werbebanner klickt, wird auf eine betrügerische Webseite weitergeleitet. Diese ahmen teilweise das Microsoft-Design nach, um Vertrauen zu wecken.

Whether you're outlasting enemies in Fortnite or taking notes in a study hall, owners of this machine will appreciate its comfortable keyboard and above-average battery life.
