The screen seemed sharp and colorful, but it was difficult to really get a feel for it during the short demo. Microsoft says the Surface Book should last for about 12 hours on a single charge while both parts are connected. There's a smaller battery in the screen that gives the tablet three hours of battery life while it's disconnected. The device's processor is also located in the tablet portion, which is what enables it to function as a computer when it's detached from its base. The graphics processing unit is located in the base, however, so if you're using the device for something graphics intensive you'll want to keep the two connected.Overall, the Surface Book seems like it could be a worthwhile option for those looking for a powerful new Windows laptop that don't mind splurging. The Surface Book will cost $1,500. While you can buy other excellent Windows laptops for that price (such as the $800 Dell XPS 13), the Surface Book lands in the same price range as Apple's new MacBook ($1,200). For $300 more, you get a machine that's more powerful, comes with a touchscreen, and supports pen input. After our first demo, the Surface Book seems like an excellent device, although it likely won't be for everyone since it's really aimed at the high end market. It's also tough to say exactly how it performs until we have more time with it to put it through the paces.

Apple included new earbuds with the iPhone 7 as well as an adapter to use your old headphones.Still, there's a lot of confusion about the earbuds and the iPhone 7 — here are the questions we've been getting a lot.
That's true. There is no headphone jack on the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, the new phones that Apple announced yesterday.the home button is now pressure sensitive that means it doesnt physically press in instead the phone vibrates when you press down oh yeah and theres no headphone jack

Steve Kovach/Business Insider
The good news is that Apple includes new headphones in the iPhone 7 box — a pair of white earbuds, called EarPods, that plug into the iPhone 7 through the Lightning charging port. But if you want to use your old headphones, Apple has also included an adapter along with the iPhone 7 that will allow your old headphones to plug into the iPhone 7's charging port. It looks like this:According to Apple, they have a five-hour battery life, but they charge through a case that provides 24 hours of battery. They're pretty nifty! Sensors detect when they are in your ears to save battery life.

The reason the AirPods pair so easily is that Apple has a new chip in these earbuds called the W1. They still use standard Bluetooth, but the chip enables the AirPods to pair without digging through settings. The W1 chip is just there for easy pairing, and for now only Apple and Beats are using it.
Users can summon Siri, Apple's voice assistant, simply by double-tapping either AirPod, and when you're talking to Siri, the AirPods cancel other noise. And when you switch from your iPhone to your Mac, the sound switches instantly.
Yes. According to Recode, AirPods don't require an iPhone 7 and will connect to non-Apple devices, but they'll require manual pairing. They're just standard Bluetooth, with a little bit of "secret sauce" for easy pairing with Apple devices.
Yes, according to Apple. However, your Mac will need to be updated to the most recent version of MacOS to play sound. If your laptop can't be updated to MacOS Sierra, it might not work with the AirPods, according to Apple's product page.
Yes, either through the dongle or headphones that plug in through Apple's Lightning port, which several companies have already started making.

We welcome your feedback.Several tech sites, as well as iPad Pro owners in Apple forums, report an average of four and a half hours of charging time. That's because the charger doesn't transfer very much power at all, only 12 watts. That's fine for 9.7-inch iPads with smaller batteries, but that's not enough for the iPad Pro's huge battery. The $49 USB-C charging adapter designed for the MacBook laptop outputs power at 29 watts compared to the iPad Pro's 12-watt charger. To connect the USB-C charger to your iPad Pro's Lightning port, you'd need Apple's recently released $25 USB-C-to-Lightning cable.

The USB-C charger was put to the test by MacStories' Frederico Viticci, who discovered that it made a dramatic difference in charging time. With the screen on at 100%, airplane mode turned on, and background app refresh turned off, it took the iPad Pro 107 minutes, just under two hours, to charge from 0% to 80% using the USB-C charger. To compare, it took Viticci's iPad Pro 732 minutes, or a little over 12 hours, to charge from 0% to 80% in the same test.Indeed, the iPad Pro's 12.9-inch screen uses up a lot of power, especially when it's at 100% brightness. In fact, Viticci's iPad Pro took significantly less time to charge with the fast charging feature in every test he performed, including tests where he was using the iPad Pro to watch videos and play games, which tend to use up a lot power and slow down the charging process.USB-C is a new standard that can transmit power and data much faster than the regular USB we're used to.Some might be put off by the fact that you need to spend another $75 to charge your iPad Pro at a reasonable speed, especially after shelling out a tear-inducing $800 for the base iPad Pro model to begin with. If the slow charging speeds don't bother you enough where you'd need to spend even more money on the iPad Pro package, you can simply charge it overnight while you sleep.

Despite the company's success in the early 1980s with the Apple II and Macintosh computers, Apple was in big trouble by 1997. The company was hemorrhaging money. The final quarter of 1996 showed Apple's sales had plummeted 30% from the year before. There were simply too many products — Apple was selling a dozen versions of the Macintosh but couldn't advertise the computers' differences to people in simple terms. Shareholders were livid with Apple's leadership."It was insanity," Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of marketing who was working for Macromedia at the time, told Steve Jobs' biographer Walter Isaacson. "Tons of products, most of them crap, done by deluded teams."By September 1997, Jobs had cut 70% of Apple's product line and got Apple out of side businesses like printers and servers. "You are bright people," Jobs told one product group. "You shouldn't be wasting your time on such crappy products."This sudden change of strategy is what ultimately saved Apple, especially during that fragile time for the company. In cutting so many products and projects, Apple laid off more than 3,000 people, but it did salvage the company's balance sheet. And by the following January, Jobs was able to announce the company's first profitable quarter in years. It was the opposite of what Apple had done for years — to make more products, not fewer — and it worked. Boy, did it work.
